To enable this worthwhile charity to prosper and expand
it needs a number of things to come together.
Volunteer.
With so much still to be done almost any number of volunteers in
a wide range of disciplines can be accommodated. Help is needed both
at home and in India. As well as the clinical staff we really do
need Educators in Health and Language communication to develop
materials in the UK and then test them in the field in India. With
the prevailing level of poverty and social structure prevention
is better than cure. There is obviously a huge research opportunity
here, for it is clear that such problems as the very common and
fatal oral cancer is on such a large untreated scale that it can
only seriously be tackled by education into the causes. Similarly
dental decay related to a high sugar diet could be reduced
by education.
You can help in many ways...
As a CLINICIAN, be it nurse or surgeon, your input is invaluable both
as a pair of hands to carry out care and as a teacher of recently
graduated indigenous staff and their helpers. If you are RETIRED
this is a chance to use that huge reserve of skill and knowledge
which would otherwise go largely unused in our Western system.
Doing something in health care for nothing brings a huge
personal reward particularly when you are helping people
who may never have had skilled care in their lives.
Local people are very kind, hospitable and friendly...
As a VISITOR you can an insite view into what we do and add
to the social life we enjoy in the villages and back in Chitrakoot
in the evenings. Most visitors reveal skills and abilities they
do not know they had and go away feeling reassured that everyone
can contribute in this environment. Perhaps the one essential skill
is the willingness to try and communicate across the language
and cultural barriers and body language becomes very important. The
local people are, by nature very kind and hospitable and friendly,
and patient, and totally undemanding. They are proud of their
culture and traditions and if you show an interest it is immediately
rewarded by warmth and information.

As a FUND RAISER you can have a fundamental role in making
the whole Chitrakoot Charity a success. Even though our staff
pay all their own expenses and give of their time freely both in
the UK (and other countries) and donate regularly through Gift Aid ,
we still need more income for equipment and running expenses and
the wages of the resident staff. As the demand for our services
increases so do the costs.
If you are a Practitioner used equipment and redundant
materials are much appreciated.
As a member of the Dental Trade , donations of
equipment and or cash obviously are invaluable.
As a member of the caring Public, if what we do touches
your heart and appears worthwhile then please help us with
either a regular or one off donation under Gift Aid if
applicable.
If you have an ability for organisation of events please use
it in this cause. If you are not an organiser please play a part in
running the events we already organise. If you have any ideas or
contacts you feel may help, please pass them on. With so many charities
competing , all with worthy causes , we do need to stress that our monies
go to the frontline and that all administration is also done free of charge.
